CEED, Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development, advances the spirit of entrepreneurship by delivering innovative programs and services to empower individuals and communities. For more than 25 years, CEED has supported innovative ideas, creative enterprises, and scalable strategies that reflect both social and economic impact.
As Nova Scotia’s premiere resource for entrepreneurial support, we help businesses “start-up and stay-up” through hands-on programming, financing, mentoring, and advisory services. CEED curates and supports a vibrant community of like-minded entrepreneurs with peer-to-peer learning, professional development, and a passion for business with purpose.
We’re currently seeking new members to join our Board of Directors who are passionate about entrepreneurship and eager to lend their expertise in support of CEED’s mission and long-term strategic direction.
Who We’re Looking For

- Finance, Accounting, or Audit (CPA designation considered an asset)
- Legal (especially corporate law, not-for-profit governance, or regulatory compliance)
Experience in governance, entrepreneurship, public sector partnerships, or community development is also an asset.
Board Member Responsibilities
As a CEED Board Member, you will:
- Prepare for and actively participate in Board meetings (approximately 2–4 hours/month)
- Contribute to strategic decision-making and support oversight of financial, legal, and organizational performance
- Help evaluate and monitor CEED’s programs and impact in line with its mission
- Support the CEO and leadership team with informed guidance and insight
- Promote CEED’s work within your network and act as a community ambassador
- Participate in one or more Board committees (optional, but encouraged!)
Board members are able to serve a two-year term, which is renewable once. A full onboarding and orientation process is provided in partnership with the President & CEO and current Board Chair.
