CEED Board Member Opportunities

CEED, Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development, advances the spirit of entrepreneurship by delivering innovative programs and services to empower individuals and communities.  For more than 25 years CEED has supported innovative ideas, creative enterprises, and scalable strategies which encompass social and economic principles.

As Nova Scotia’s premiere resource for entrepreneurial support, we help business “start-up and stay-up” through innovative experiential programming, financing, mentoring and advisory services. CEED curates and elevates a unique community of like-minded entrepreneurs with peer-to-peer learning opportunities, professional development strategies, and a passion for entrepreneurship.  We serve entrepreneurs of all ages and sectors and support entrepreneurship organizations through a network of strategic partnerships across Nova Scotia.

The Board of Directors is accountable for CEED’s performance against mission and strategic objectives and for the effective stewardship of financial and human resources.  This engaged board works collaboratively to act in the best long-term interests of CEED through informed decision-making, a broad knowledge base and an inclusive perspective.

CEED is currently seeking individuals with demonstrated strategic and leadership experience to join this board.  Specific competencies include, but are not limited to, legal, marketing, or public and government relations.  Interested candidates should possess entrepreneurship experience and/or board governance expertise. 

In keeping with best board renewal practices, new members will be well supported and orientated by the CEO and the current board chair guided by a transition plan.

Program Advisor / Facilitator

CEED is recruiting a Program Advisor/Facilitator to join our Leveling It Up program. (15-month contract)

The Program Advisor/Facilitator is responsible for navigating entrepreneurs through various internal and external educational services and workshops. The successful candidate will provide a structured path of internal and external programs for the entrepreneurs to attend, based on their business stage.
In addition to navigating the appropriate path for the various stages of business, the Program Advisor/Facilitator will facilitate a number of CEED programs aimed at developing entrepreneurial competency and venture development.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following competencies :

  • Navigate entrepreneurs through various internal and external educational services and workshops based on entrepreneur’s present business stage, needs and course availability.
  • Develop a structured program path for eligible participants and maintain communication with them throughout the program.
  • Manage assigned participant case files in the CRM including documentation of
    participant business details, progress etc.
  • Facilitate CEED programming aimed at developing entrepreneurial competency and
    venture development.
  • Identify and analyze areas of improvement/feedback from participant and work with the
    team to proffer solutions.
  • Update and maintain clientele database on the CRM and LMS.
  • Brainstorm with teammates for process review for program enhancement.

Qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in Business Administration or a related field, or the
equivalent work experience
• Able to successfully assist and manage clients from diverse backgrounds from introduction to post program evaluation
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are a requirement
• Strong technology skills with Microsoft 365 (required) and CRM systems (preferred) and
the ability to learn new platforms
• General knowledge of current entrepreneurship/business trends.
• A solid willingness to learn and grow as part of a team and ability to work in a dynamic
team environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Facilitation or public speaking experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills

This is a full-time position offering a competitive benefits package and RRSP matching. A typical workweek is Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. This position is dependent upon program funding availability.
