Our Goal

CEED’s Entrepreneurship Education Workshops
Every year, our Education Team travels across Nova Scotia to provide students with the opportunity to turn their ideas into ventures.

We do so by delivering hands-on workshops that are designed to help students discover what interests them by learning new skills and getting out of their comfort zones.

Workshops:

CEED’s introductory workshops:

  • Tower of Power
  • Idea Generation
  • Out of the Box
  • Leaping into Leadership

Workshop series (3-5 sessions):

  • Envelope Challenge Series
  • Design Thinking Series
  • S.O.C.I.A.L. Series

Tower of Power (Grades P – 12)

Tower of Power is an interactive and hands-on workshop.  Youth work as a team to plan, design and build a free-standing tower out of craft suppliers purchased from the “store”.  Individuals are faced with challenges that they learn to overcome as a team. The objective of the workshop is to build the tallest tower whilst spending the least amount of money, helping participants discover and develop their entrepreneurial skills such a problem solving, effective communication, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, creativity, and designing.

Idea Generation (Grades 4 – 12)

Participants explore the idea generation process in teams as they work through word association and problem identification. Together, teams will create a new product or services concept and develop their idea using the 5 P’s of marketing.  Teams then pitch their ideas to the Group as a whole.  Participants will gain experience writing and delivering pitches, and discover and develop their entrepreneurial skills such a problem solving, effective communication, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, creativity and designing.

Out-of-the-Box (Grades 4-12)

Inspire Entrepreneurship with Out-of-the-Box factory.  Youth work as a team to plan, design, and build a prototype of a new invention, product or service.  Participants are encouraged to be creative like entrepreneurs and think outside the box to come up with something new.  Participants will gain experience writing and delivering pitches, learn the challenges and rewards of creative brainstorming, and discover and develop their entrepreneurial skills such a problem solving, effective communication, critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, creativity and designing.

Leaping into Leadership (Grades 6-12)

In Leaping into Leadership students will learn to identify and apply leadership qualities and skills by interacting in a group environment.  They will analyze case studies and go on to apply leadership principles learned.  Participants will work in teams to solve problems, come to conclusions and present their findings.  Participants will gain awareness of leadership and how it impacts their lives, and discuss how to apply leadership principles to different scenarios.
