Youth Employability Program

Our Youth Employability Program (YEP) is an outreach program that empowers youth to explore their interests and achieve their goals through access to education, employment and resources across HRM.


Youth/Parent/Guardian
YEP could be for you if you are:

  • Ages 15 to 21
  • Connected to income assistance (directly or through a parent), or living in foster care or a group home
  • In need of support with employment and education

We can help you with:

  • Identifying yourgoals and making plans to achieve them
  • Preparing for employment, such as job searching, resume building and interview preparation
  • Accessing programs and resources in your community, such as parenting, life skills, and mental health
  • Funding for transportation, school fees and other employment or educational needs
  • Applying for or replacing identification, such as a SIN card, Nova Scotia photo ID, or health card
  • Developingentrepreneurial skills, like problem-solving and opportunity identification
  • And so much more..!

Agency/Service Provider
YEP is an outreach program for youth between the ages of 15 and 21 who are looking for support with employment and education. Youth must be connected to income assistance (directly or through a parent) or living in foster care or a child care facility.We connect to youth where they are, physically and mentally, in order to meet their needs.

Services include:

  • Support during pre-employability, early employment and re-employment stages
  • Individualized support
  • Customized workshops for groups of at-risk youth
  • Presentations to partner agencies, services providers and community groups

YEP provides support to youth between the ages of 15 and 21 who are looking for assistance with employment and education.

As an employer, you can make a social investment by hiring our youth!

By supporting YEP’s employment initiative, you will help us to provide youth with opportunities forvaluable experience in a variety ofemployment fields.

We offer:

  • Ongoing assessment and support after hiring
  • Training, certification, and other professional development to prepare youth for your place of employment
  • Funding for transportation, school fees and other employment or educational needs
  • Wage subsidies
