Martin MacKinnon

Martin MacKinnon is the Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of B4checkin Inc., a software development company headquartered in Halifax that provides cloud-based solutions to the global hospitality industry. He brings over 30 years of leadership experience across diverse sectors including energy, finance, economic development, and technology. Martin has held senior executive positions with organizations such as Emera Inc., Efficiency Nova Scotia, and Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), where he led corporate finance, planning, and strategic initiatives. His work has involved oversight of financial operations, budgeting, capital planning, and business development, as well as managing relationships with government, regulatory, and investment stakeholders.
In addition to his executive roles, Martin is a part-time lecturer in finance and strategy at Cape Breton University, supporting the next generation of business leaders. He holds a BA from Dalhousie University and an MBA from Saint Mary’s University. Martin’s strategic mindset, financial expertise, and commitment to economic development make him a valued contributor to CEED’s mission of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Nova Scotia.
