Keynote speaker
John Risley is the quintessential entrepreneur. He started Clearwater Fine Foods Inc. in 1976 when transporting lobsters to New England. Now he is President & CEO of this an international and diversified holding company. In which, Mr. Risley is Director of the following three subsidiary companies: Columbus Communications, a Caribbean-based provider of undersea fibre and cable t.v. in 21 countries; Locally-based life sciences company, Ocean Nutrition Canada, which is the world’s leading provider of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, and Clearwater Seafoods Limited Partnership, which is one of the world’s largest shellfish harvesting and processing companies. In addition to being the largest and controlling shareholder in these businesses, Clearwater Fine Foods is a major stake in Canadian based TSX quoted seafood processing company, Highliner Foods.

Mr. Risley is an active community member, and sits on the Board of a several charitable organizations. He is Chair of the Canadian Youth Business Foundation and Atlantic Institute of Market Studies, and Co-Chair of Nature Conservancy’s Capital Campaign. Mr. Risley regularly engages in public policy debate and is member of the World President’s and Chief Executives Organizations, and is a director of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s President’s Program and Leadership.

Mr. Risley was named an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was inducted into the Nova Scotia Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame in 1997. He has received numerous awards, including Atlantic Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year and a Canada Award for Business Excellence in Entrepreneurship.

QuickBooks Accounting & Bookkeeping Training

Proper bookkeeping helps small businesses to increase profits, reduce taxes and improve cash flow. An up-to-date system will allow you to easily post transactions as they occur, so you have up-to-date financial information, such as your balance sheet, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll information.

This six-series program will encompass both classroom and hands-on experience with the QuickBooks accounting software. Participants will also receive the 2010 Version of QuickBooks and a complimentary one year subscription.

Session 2

  • Review fundamentals of accounts receivable, sales, receipts and statements
  • Choosing a format for sales forms(available templates)
  • Generate customer statements as needed
  • Recording and tracking sales taxes on invoices
  • Receiving payments and making deposits
  • Exercise – record sales, receipts and deposits of case company
