Youth Employability Project
We are an employment support program that reaches out to youth on an individual basis, meeting them in their communities and assisting them in achieving their personal career, employment and educational goals. Click here for more information on how YEP helps youth. YEP can support youth at various stages along their path towards employability. Using a participant-centered approach, and focusing on the development and implementation of individualized case plans, YEP provides youth with maximum exposure to future alternatives to Social Assistance. Repeated exposure to these alternatives lead to real steps towards self-sufficiency. YEP is carried out in a manner that is complementary to, and makes full use of, existing federal and provincial youth programs and services. In fact, a priority is given to introducing the YEP participant to existing services within their community. The Youth Employability Project (YEP) takes an innovative approach to working with youth who have been exposed to the social assistance and child welfare system. The Youth Employability Project (YEP) is a unique program because we know youth are capable of achieving great things and making a valuable contribution to their community and will do our best to help see that they succeed. One on one meetings are set up with Youth Navigators who assist youth with resume writing, interviewing skills, and addressing potential employers. When possible, youth are connected with work placements that relate to their career goals. The program is structured around each participant so that they are able to meet with their navigator at time that best suits their schedule. Youth build up their skills and positive experience through starting out in volunteer positions which can later translate into employment. With YEP’s ongoing support, youth build upon the personal characteristics, skills, attitudes and resources that they possess or are developing to create a bright future for themselves.
YEP’s participants go on to great things, including getting jobs, starting businesses or going back to school. Check out photo gallery for recent YEP events and read testimonials to see what participants say about YEP.

The Youth Employability Project (YEP) was established in 1998 by CEED Centre for Entrepreneurship Education & Development Incorporated in partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services in order to meet the need for employment support and service delivery specifically targeting youth exposed to the social assistance and child welfare systems within the Halifax Regional Municipality.
