Dave Bourque, Chair Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Mary’s University and financial counseling and planning designations through the Institute of Canadian Bankers. With more than 10 years experience working in the banking industry, Dave brings with him extensive sales, account and risk management, client service and market development and networking and relationship building knowledge. Dr. Robert Bérard, Vice Chair Dr. Bérard holds a Ph.D in History from McMaster University along with a Bachelor of Education degree from Dalhousie University. His research and interests include the history of education, teaching history and social studies, independent schools and home schooling, moral and religious education, and the politics of education. Dr. Bérard has had numerous works published in these areas. John McNulty, Past Chair John McNulty is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University. He enjoyed a 25 year career with Business Development Bank of Canada where he rose to the level of Senior Vice President. Throughout his career, he has been involved in lending, venture capital consulting and training. Upon his retirement, John began his consulting firm ProDel Consultancy, undertaking international projects for such organizations as the World Bank, IFC, USAID and CIDA in many developing countries in Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Middles East. His international work is focused on the growth and improvement of businesses and financial organizations both large and small in terms of investment and technical assistance. Annette St. Onge, Secretary Annette St. Onge is a retired Director of Management Services with the Business Development Bank of Canada. She now works internationally as a private consultant focusing on enabling women entrepreneurs, international donor program evaluation, training and business consulting and entrepreneurship curriculum development. In addition to serving on our Board, Annette is President-Elect of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB). Peter F. Wilde, CA, Treasurer Peter Wilde was raised and educated in England and immigrated to Canada in 1974. Since obtaining his Nova Scotia CA designation in 1975, he has established a successful and growing CA practice that specializes in family and small businesses. An active community member, Peter serves on various boards and committees, as well as offering seminars to emerging entrepreneurs on taxation and business planning. In collaboration with two fellow CAs, he recently composed and presented a position paper on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for Small Business to CICA’s Accounting Standards Board. Even with his many commitments, he remains an active partner at Wilde Timmons Michaud Incorporated. Jennifer Burke Paul Joudrey Paul Joudrey holds a degree in economics from Wilfrid Laurier University. He has recently retired from The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) where he was employed as the Director General of Regional Operations for the Nova Scotia region. During his 35 years with the Government of Canada, Mr. Joudrey has held many senior level positions with departments such as Revenue Canada Excise, Employment and Immigration Canada and ACOA. He has extensive experience in auditing, economic development, financial management, human resource management, program management and policy development. Rebecca King Rebecca began her career with a degree in Occupational Therapy from Dalhousie University. She has worked in various facilities in Canada and the United States. After receiving an MBA from St. Mary’s University, she began her career as a Consultant with Investors Group, providing comprehensive financial planning for clients including investing, insurance and planning for life transitions. Rebecca has been active volunteer, taking on positions with the Board of the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, Halifax Condominium Corporation 142, Easter Seals, and Camp Hill. She has been involved with CEED since 2003 when she joined the Loans Review Committee which she now chairs. Phil Landry Phil Landry is the Superintendent of Schools for the Tri-County Regional School Board and has been involved with the school board system in the tri-county area for much of his career. He has held positions as Director of Education for the Tri-County District School Board and Regional Education Officer responsible for the Southwest Regional School Board and CSAP. Lisa M. MacDonald Harvey Silverstein Harvey Silverstein has twenty-five years of professional management consultation experience in Atlantic Canada. His professional expertise includes a unique combination of computer and telecommunications technology, interpersonal communications, energy technologies, and organizational change. Dr. Silverstein has held many notable appointments including Executive Director of EMBA and Executive Education at Saint Mary’s University Sobey’s School of Business, and Partner in two of the nation’s largest professional firms, KPMG and Ernst & Young. Dr. Silverstein holds an MBA from Saint Mary's University, a Ph.D. from the University of Denver, and has been honored with fellowships from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Nancy Wallace Bill Walsh Bill Walsh has a Bachelor of Science Degree Mathematics as well as a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Business Administration, specializing in accounting and finance, all from Dalhousie University. He was appointed Dean, School of Business, for the Nova Scotia Community College in August, 2000. His duties involve product development and management for the Business Management, Tourism and Culinary, and Applied Business Technology programs for the College. Most recently, Bill has served as Policy Advisor to the Provincial Cabinet, Director of Customer Service for the Registry of Motor Vehicles, and President of Interim Business Solutions (a private sector contract management company). Most notably, in his role as Owner/President of IBS Interim Business Solutions, Bill served as a contract management consultant, offering short-term operations and general management expertise to various businesses, specializing in strategic use of new technology, business planning, reorganization and transition management. Kathy Murphy, MBA CHRP Kathy holds an MBA from St. Mary’s University and is a Certified Human Resource Management Professional. Kathy also holds diplomas in management, tourism development and business administration and is certified as a trainer/facilitator by the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council. Kathy has held senior management positions in the private sector, government, and not-for-profit organizations. During the course of her career, which began at Halifax’s Tourism Department, Kathy has been an entrepreneur, working in her family’s business. In her career, she has led organizational change initiatives focused on the areas of human resource management and client service standards and measures programs.
